Reformation Church Women (RCW)
RCW (Reformation Church Women), also known as WELCA, meet on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6pm in the Parish Hall, except for July because of summer vacations.
We have devotions and a Bible study, business meeting, and refreshments. We try to be finished by 8:30.
We have one major fundraiser each year for our Church projects. This is the Chinese Auction in October. We chose a local charity and divide the funds raised with them. Some of the past charities have been Hope of Lancaster, the Girl's & Boy's Home, Pregancy Care Center, the Listening Center, the Dream Team Foundation of Lancaster, Christian Services, and Golden Care center. Our part goes to projects in the Church. One year we bought the cushions for the pews, another was the phone tree, and then the hadicapped restroom in the Parish Hall. We've remodeled the kitchen from Chinese Auction money and cookbook sales; adding a pantry , larger refridgerator and stove, and a dishwasher. 2012 monies will be spent helping pay for repainting the parish hall and new carpet.
We attend the SCWELCA convention each year in June/July as well as the Upstate conference meetings.
But its not all work!! Everyone enjoys bringing their spouses and friends to the Christmas covered dish party with a chinese auction gift giving. And don't forget the White Elephant salad covered dish in June. Do you remember the year that Pastor Jeff Shealy got the velvet painting of a Matador? He told Ashley he was going to hang it on the wall of the garage so he could see it every day. We never heard what Ashley thought. Or the time Betty Upp got the Duck slippers that fit right over her street shoes, they were so big!! She wore them during the whole party. And lets not talk about the "fights" over certain items or 'one hand washing the other', shall we?
